 Yes! iPad apps can play an important role in ceramics lessons! Let's explore the Pottery HD app - This fun app can let students create virtual clay vessels. The students, and you, will be involved in the game of the app but it has so much more value in the art room than just a game. Students can use the app to develop designs for clay vessels. It can also be a great way for students to learn and become familiar with different types of vessels shapes.  My 5th grade students completed a great project using this awesome app. Check out the movie below and learn more about this project on my art ed blog - SplatsScrapsandGlueBlobs Here's another great example of using the iPad in the classroom from Karen Bosch at Southfield Christian Elementary School! This one combines Art and Literacy with Kindergarten students. Students used the free app Hello Crayons to draw a picture of something that began with a certain letter. The Hello Crayons app is a simple drawing app that is free - yet it has a lot of in-app purchasing options to increase colors and accessories. iPad 2 with a QR reader makes it easy for students to scan a code and then enter an artist statement for their works on Artsonia! Here's a great use of the FaceJack app. 3rd Grade students made their owl paintings give advise on ways to be wise. Suzanne Tiedemann, an awesome art teacher in South Brunswick, NJ, is always on the lookout for a great app to use with her students. She recently used Phantasy app for the iPad to let her Kindergarten and 2nd grade students take their "Love Bird" drawings to a new level.
